We are looking for an experienced machinist to join our team at our Burlington location. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across both manual and CNC equipment, holding tight tolerances, and taking jobs from raw stock through to finished, inspected parts. The successful candidate will be capable of owning a job from start to finish ? cutting, prepping, machining, deburring, and quality checking ? while consistently working to tolerances of 0.001". CAM programming is handled by a dedicated team member, so this role is focused on setup, operation, and producing quality parts.
Responsibilities
- Perform manual machining on mills and lathes to produce precision parts
- Set up and run CNC mills from existing programs provided by our CAM programmer
- Hold tight tolerances (working within 0.001") across a variety of part types
- Work with a range of materials including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, Delrin, UHMW, and others
- Verify settings and maintain part specifications by measuring first-off parts and sample workpieces during operation, making adjustments and sharpening or replacing worn tools as needed to ensure part-to-print accuracy
- Troubleshoot and adjust machining requirements for custom or one-off parts as required
- Perform precision assembly work as part of the production process when required
- Interpret engineering drawings, CNC setup sheets and standard procedures to determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, operational sequences, and setup requirements
- Prepare and cut raw material in preparation for machining operations
- Deburr and clean parts in preparation for the next operation and/or quality inspection
- Perform in-process quality control to ensure parts meet print before moving to the next stage
- Keep machines and surrounding workspace clean while maintaining a safe, organized work environment
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience operating manual mills and lathes is required
- Experience setting up and running CNC mills is required
- Ability to hold tight tolerances (0.001") consistently
- Experience machining a variety of materials including steel, stainless, aluminum, and plastics (Delrin, UHMW, etc.)
- Ability to take a job from start to finish ? cutting, prepping, machining, deburring, and Q/C
- Ability to troubleshoot and adjust machining approaches for custom parts
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects
- Red Seal certification (General Machinist or Tool and Die Maker) is preferred but not required ? strong hands-on experience is what matters most
- Post-secondary education or apprenticeship training is an asset but not required

- Pay: CA$30.00 - CA$40.00 per hour depending on experience
- Day shift: 7:00am - 4:00pm
