About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Sr Applied AI Engineer to join our Investment Banking technology team. This is a critical individual contributor role focused on driving the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge AI/ML solutions specifically tailored for our Investment Banking products, including Equity Capital Markets (ECM), Debt Capital Markets (DCM), and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A).
The ideal candidate will be a deep technical expert, capable of operating independently to solve complex problems, setting technical direction, and mentoring junior engineers through hands-on collaboration, without direct managerial responsibilities. You will be instrumental in translating complex business challenges in Investment Banking into robust, scalable, and high-performance AI systems that deliver tangible value.
Key Responsibilities:
- AI/ML Solution Design & Implementation: Lead the end-to-end design, architecture, and hands-on implementation of advanced AI/ML solutions and platforms supporting Investment Banking workflows in ECM, DCM, and M&A. This includes leveraging existing models and adapting them to specific business needs.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the primary subject matter expert in Investment Banking products (ECM, DCM, M&A), collaborating closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and identify high-impact AI opportunities.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams, fostering best practices in AI/ML solution implementation and scalable system design. Mentor less experienced engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Strategic Vision & Innovation: Contribute to the strategic vision for AI in Investment Banking, researching and evaluating new AI technologies, methodologies, and tools to maintain a competitive edge.
- Data Strategy & Engineering: Work closely with data engineers to define data requirements, ensure data quality, and optimize data pipelines for AI solution integration and deployment.
- Model Deployment & Monitoring: Oversee the deployment, scaling, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of AI/ML solutions in production environments, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance optimizations for AI solutions and underlying infrastructure to ensure efficient resource utilization and rapid inference.
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, quantitative analysts, and other engineering leads, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, architecture diagrams, and operational guides.
Qualifications
Must-Have Skills & Experience

10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years specializing in Applied AI/ML engineering or related roles.

Significant proven data science / AI engineering experience, with multiple years leading tech implementations in financial services or enterprise environments.

Demonstrated success building AI applications in investment banking, asset management, or capital markets domains.

Deep expertise in ML, NLP, LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and modern MLOps practices.

Strong experience working with both structured financial datasets and unstructured data sources (e.g., filings, call transcripts, research).

Familiarity with front-office workflows in ECM, DCM, M&A, and investment research.

Experience deploying AI solutions in secure, high-compliance environments (on-premise, hybrid cloud, or private cloud).

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred
- Experience with knowledge graphs and graph-based search.
- Familiarity with tools like Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Capital IQ, FactSet, PitchBook.
- Prior work on AI co-pilots, document summarization tools, or automated pitch generation.
- Exposure to enterprise CRM systems and client intelligence platforms.
- Track record of successfully delivering impactful AI solutions in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI, Applied Mathematics, or related quantitative field.
