About the role
The J. Hansen HVAC Group Inc. is in search of a skilled and dedicated Journeyman Plumber to join our team. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated professional with strong mechanical aptitude who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship. This role involves performing installation, maintenance, and service work on plumbing systems in commercial and residential environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems
- Install, repair, and maintain domestic, commercial, and industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and fixtures in walls and floors
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings
- Measure, cut, bend, and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
- Inspect plumbing systems to identify issues and implement effective solutions
- Perform preventative maintenance and service work as required
- Prepare cost estimates as required
- Complete service documentation and communicate findings and recommendations professionally to customers
- Support 24-hour emergency service on a flexible rotating on-call schedule
- Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in good working condition
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Service experience in commercial and/or residential environments is an asset
- Backflow certification is considered an asset
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to support 24-hour emergency service on a rotating schedule
- Ability to conduct work while standing, bending, crawling, lifting, climbing, pulling, and reaching
- Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and/or aerial platforms
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to provide a driver’s abstract
Education & Certifications
- Completion of secondary school is required
- Red Seal Journeyperson Plumber Certification is required
- Gas Fitter Class B License is preferred; willingness to obtain certification is considered an asset.
- WHMIS and applicable safety certifications
