Role Description The Shop Floor Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB, responsible for supporting daily manufacturing operations. This role involves operating and monitoring production equipment, performing routine inspections, and ensuring that machinery is set up correctly for each job. The technician will follow standard operating procedures, maintain a clean and safe work area, and report any equipment issues or safety concerns to supervisors. Day-to-day tasks include handling materials, recording basic production data, assisting with minor adjustments or preventive maintenance, and collaborating with team members to meet quality and output targets. The role requires consistent adherence to safety standards, quality guidelines, and production schedules. Qualifications Ability to safely operate and monitor manufacturing or shop floor equipment, with attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to identify issues, perform minor adjustments, and support preventive maintenance activities. Strong awareness of workplace safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment and compliance with safety policies. Capability to read and follow work instructions, job travelers, or basic technical documentation related to production tasks. Solid organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks and meet production schedules. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, technicians, and other shop floor personnel. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, move materials, and perform hands-on tasks in a manufacturing environment. High school diploma or equivalent; previous experience in manufacturing, production, or a related field is an asset. Willingness to learn new processes, participate in training, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
