Field Technician — Rugged Terrain (Contract) Outbounds Consulting Ltd. Location: Toodoggone, BC (on-site) · Type: Contract · Setting: Remote, camp- or site-based About Outbounds Consulting Ltd. Outbounds Consulting Ltd. is a geological management firm specializing in geophysical surveying and high-angle mountaineering geology. We deliver accurate, reliable geophysical and geological data in challenging field environments, supporting resource exploration and development projects across remote and mountainous regions. Working closely with our clients, we plan and execute safe, efficient ground geophysical programs in some of the most demanding terrain in the province. Field safety, technical excellence, and clear communication are at the core of how we work and what allows us to deliver high-quality results on every project. The Role We are seeking a contract Field Technician for an on-site position based in Toodoggone, BC. In this role, you will assist the project geophysicist in carrying out ground geophysical surveys in mountainous terrain, helping the survey program run safely and efficiently. Your work will focus on supporting day-to-day survey operations — laying out and flagging survey lines, helping take readings, moving and managing equipment, and keeping field records. The position involves traversing high-angle and remote terrain to establish survey coverage and working to strict safety protocols. You'll work closely alongside the geophysicist and crew, keeping field operations moving and information flowing. Key Responsibilities Assist the project geophysicist with day-to-day ground survey operations. Lay out, flag, and maintain survey grids and lines, including GPS positioning and station marking across rugged terrain. Help collect and record survey readings as directed. Support high-angle mountaineering geophysics, accessing remote and steep ground safely to establish survey lines. Move, set up, and manage survey equipment and supplies in the field. Maintain detailed, accurate field records and report observations clearly. Follow safety protocols and contribute to environmental and regulatory compliance in remote settings. Assist with logistics, including organizing supplies, batteries and power, and gear transport. Communicate operational updates and field status to the geophysicist and project leadership. Qualifications Ability to work safely in remote, mountainous, and high-angle environments, including familiarity with mountaineering or backcountry travel. Comfort using GPS, field notebooks, and basic digital data tools. Strong observational and data recording skills, with attention to accuracy and completeness. Solid understanding of safety procedures, risk assessment, and adherence to environmental and regulatory guidelines. Effective communication and teamwork skills to work closely with geophysicists and project managers. Physical ability to perform demanding fieldwork in variable weather and terrain conditions. Valid driver's license and willingness to work in remote, camp-based or site-based settings as required. Relevant education or training in geophysics, geology, earth sciences, natural resources, or a related field is an asset. Why Join Us You'll be part of a team that takes both the science and the mountains seriously — where careful data and sound safety practice go hand in hand. If you're drawn to technical fieldwork in spectacular, challenging country, this is a chance to do meaningful work in one of BC's most striking regions. To apply, submit your resume and a brief summary of relevant field experience to Outbounds Consulting Ltd.
