Canada Pump and Power is growing, and we are preparing for several exciting projects launching soon. We are looking for experienced Marine Equipment Operators who are ready to get on board, work safely, and make an impact.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work on the water and has the skills to operate marine equipment safely, efficiently, and professionally.

We are hiring for projects in the Fort McMurray region, as well as other locations throughout Alberta, British Columbia, and Southern Saskatchewan.

Flights and camp accommodations are provided from Calgary or Edmonton to remote site locations.
Travel and accommodations for non-remote project sites are also provided.

Position Overview

As a Marine Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating boats, barges, dredges, and other marine equipment in support of Canada Pump and Power projects. This is a hands-on role that requires technical skill, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work well as part of a crew.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate marine equipment, including boats, barges, dredges, and related equipment
  • Follow Canada Pump and Power’s Safe Work Policies, Procedures, and Practices
  • Comply with applicable company, client, industry, and regulatory requirements
  • Complete Field Level Risk Assessments using Nektar
  • Identify, report, and help correct hazards, incidents, and near misses
  • Support project operations and complete additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience operating marine equipment
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record
    • No DUIs or distracted driving charges
  • Required certifications:
    • Marine Emergency Duties: MED A3 or SDV-BS
    • Small Vessel Operator Proficiency: SVOP
    • CSO or BSO Certification

Employment Prerequisites

Successful candidates must be able to complete the following:

  • Drug and alcohol screening, including cannabis
  • Clean Criminal Record Check
  • Pre-employment quiz
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English fluently

Work Environment

This position may involve:

  • Working outdoors in changing weather conditions
  • Exposure to wet, noisy, or inclement work environments
  • Working closely with team members, clients, subcontractors, and supervisors
  • Remote project sites, camp work, and travel depending on project location

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be physically able to:

  • Work long 12-hour day or night shifts with irregular breaks
  • Lift up to 20 kg
  • Move safely over and around worksite obstacles
  • Perform hands-on work in marine and industrial project environments
