NexGold has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineering Co-op Student. The Project Engineer Co-op Student will support the Engineering and Project Management teams in the successful planning, coordination, and execution of engineering deliverables for the Goldboro Gold Project. Based at NexGold’s Corporate Office in Toronto, this role provides hands-on exposure to engineering workflows, project controls, procurement processes, and construction readiness activities.
The student, reporting to the engineering manager, will work under the guidance of senior engineers and project leaders, contributing to document reviews, schedule tracking, quality processes, and cross-disciplinary coordination.
KEY REPSONSIBILITIES Assist in coordinating engineering activities between internal and external engineering contractors. Support the review of engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documents for accuracy and completeness. Help track engineering progress against project schedules and identify potential risks or delays. Assist in preparing scopes of work, technical documentation, and procurement packages. Participate in the development and organization of Construction Work Packages. Develop monthly and other reports as required. Support the flow of information between engineering, procurement, and construction teams. Assist with updating project schedules, deliverable logs, and progress reports. Support technical bid evaluations for equipment and service packages. Help maintain organized project files, registers, and communication records. Assist in reviewing Quality Plans, Inspection & Test Plans, and other contractor quality documentation. Support quality surveillance activities, including tracking non-conformances and corrective actions. Help ensure engineering deliverables meet NexGold’s quality standards and project requirements. Participate in occasional site visits to observe construction progress and gain exposure to field engineering activities. Assist with collecting field data, photographs, and documentation to support engineering reviews. Demonstrate commitment to NexGold’s health, safety, and environmental standards. Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support project success.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Required Qualifications Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering (Chemical, Mineral Processing, Mining, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline). Strong interest in mining, mineral processing, or large-scale mining projects. Competent in using Microsoft Office and other communication and data entry platforms; Strong communication and collaboration skills; High degree of initiative and organizational skills; Capacity to work to tight deadlines with evolving priorities; Meets eligibility criteria for grant program funding: Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident of Canada, or Protected Person under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and Legally entitled to work in Canada and according to relevant Ontario legislation and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with engineering drawings, project schedules, or quality management concepts. Experience with AutoCAD or similar engineering/project tools. Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
Role Details: Schedule: Monday to Friday Hours of work: 9:00am-5:00pm Work Arrangements: Corporate Office Nature of Vacancy: Existing Vacancy Number of Vacancies: 1 Employment Type: Temporary contract Anticipated Start Date: September 8th, 2026 Anticipated End Date: December 18th, 2026 Wage: $28.84 per hour Training: This is an entry-level role. On-the-job training will be provided for incumbents for job tasks. PPE: Reimbursement-eligible items include CSA-approved work boots. All other necessary PPE will be provided by the Company. Housing: Company-provided housing is not available for this role. A.I.
