About the role
The Opportunity Highspring Canada is currently navigating a pivotal Transformation Program aimed at modernizing our operational framework, enhancing financial sustainability, and streamlining the student experience. We are seeking a proactive Technical Writer who can bridge the gap between complex administrative restructuring and clear, actionable communication. The Technical Writer is responsible for creating materials that support immediate testing, training, and adoption, while simultaneously ensuring that our system administrators can easily manage, maintain, and update this documentation long after the project lifecycle ends.
Core Responsibilities Collaborate with project management team and business leads to recommend and build the most effective materials to support user acceptance testing (UAT), training, and user adoption, including UAT scripts, testing guides, and job aids. Produce accessible technical and non-technical user guides, FAQs, and How-To documents. Translate complex governance policies and a variety of complex human resources, finance, and IT cloud services (Cornerstone, Colleague, Jaggaer, for example) into accessible content for technical and non-technical users. Autonomously manage work intake process, review and approval process, and portfolio prioritization. Conduct audits of existing institutional documentation to identify gaps or legacy information that no longer aligns with the Post-Transformation model. Key Requirements Experience: 5-8 years in technical or content writing, preferably within Higher Education or a Public Sector environment undergoing significant organizational change. Ability to effectively communicate complex systems to diverse user groups. Bilingualism: Proficiency in both English and French is highly valued Technical Literacy: Experience with documentation and system mapping tools (e.g., Jira, G Suite, draw.io) and familiarity with basic web technologies (HTML/CSS) or version control workflows (Git) is a strong asset, enabling smoother collaboration with system administrators on digital infrastructure. Creative Efficiency: A track record of producing high-quality documentation quickly and creatively under tight timelines. Experience leveraging AI tools for accelerating the content-generation process is encouraged and valued. Adaptability: The Transformation Program is dynamic. You must be comfortable with iterative drafts and managing multiple shifting priorities.
