Summary
The Fabric Production Operator is responsible for all aspects of the fabric fabrication process, including safety, quality control, operation, process monitoring, and various support activities. Operators will perform general duties, including but not limited to, machine operator, measuring, bundling, labelling, maintenance, general labourer duties, and other related tasks as assigned.
Job Duties
- Ensures implementation and adherence to health and safety regulations; promotes safety and encourages safe work practices
- Maintains quality manufacturing practices and processes; follows defined procedures/inspection criteria, and takes appropriate action on actual and potential problems
- Maintains a productive and efficient work environment
- Measures, marks, and cuts fabric materials
- Detail oriented in fabricating products by applying blueprint instructions
- Working with raw Industrial PE/PVC material
- Operation of hot air welders/RF weld/Miller WeldMaster welder
- Operation of Industrial sewing machines, both Long and Short arm
- Inspects, labels, and packages all raw and completed products
- Collaboratively and actively communicates with teammates and management to ensure customer expectations are efficiently and effectively executed
- Applies lean manufacturing principles to everyday duties
- Participates as an integral member of the team and contributes towards the success of the Company by performing other related duties as required
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Physically fit
- Industrial sewing experience is an asset
- PE/PVC Fabric hot air experience is an asset
- Able to read and interpret blueprints and tape measures (imperial measurements) is required
- Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
- Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and ISO standards are considered assets

- Reports directly to the Fabric Production Supervisor
- Interfaces directly with other team members, including:

- Quality/Compliance
- Engineering & Detailing
- HR
Work Conditions
- This is an hourly paid position with a normal 40 hour work week located onsite at our Saskatoon manufacturing facility
- Plant setting, Monday through Thursday, 6:00am-4:30pm; occasional overtime may be required
