Our client is an innovative organization specializing in pressure reduction equipment and virtual pipeline network solutions that provide lower-carbon, cost-effective gaseous fuel to the oil and gas, power generation, and industrial sectors. Jay Pinniger, from Lock Search Group has been retained by this growing Energy Manufacturer & Service company to find an experienced Electrical Engineer.
This role provides internal leadership for the design and development of electrical and industrial automation systems, including power distribution, control panels, PLC/HMI programming, instrumentation, and safety systems. Working closely with engineering, operations, and external vendors, the position ensures electrical systems are safe, reliable, maintainable, and aligned with engineering standards while delivering complete, buildable, and operational solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and ownership of industrial electrical systems and documentation. Create and maintain electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and site electrical drawings. Design power distribution systems, motor circuits, UPS systems, and industrial control panels. Develop electrical designs for emergency shutdown (ESD), hazardous area, grounding, and bonding systems. Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable codes, safety standards, and industry best practices. Develop and maintain electrical specifications, engineering standards, and design guidelines. Coordinate with contractors, consulting engineers, panel builders, and vendors throughout design and fabrication. Review vendor drawings and technical packages to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability. Maintain accurate as-built documentation and incorporate field revisions. Lead PLC, HMI, and industrial automation standards, programming, and system architecture development. Translate control philosophies, P&IDs, and operating requirements into functional automation and control systems. Provide technical leadership for commissioning, troubleshooting, system integration, and coordination with automation vendors, including PLC, SCADA, telemetry, and remote monitoring systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a P.Eng. designation in one or more Canadian jurisdictions. 1–5 years of experience designing and supporting industrial electrical systems, preferably within the CNG or energy sector. Proficient in electrical design software such as EPLAN Pro Panel, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical. Experience designing electrical systems for hazardous locations and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and industry standards. Strong knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLC/HMI programming, interlocks, sequencing, and control philosophies. Demonstrated ability to create, interpret, and review professional electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation. Experience with instrumentation, analog and discrete I/O, commissioning, and FAT/SAT testing. Skilled in collaborating with electrical contractors, panel builders, automation vendors, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. Familiarity with industrial safety circuits, remote diagnostics, operational technology (OT) networking, and modern automation systems. Hands-on, collaborative engineer capable of owning electrical and automation designs from concept through commissioning, with up to 25% travel as required.
