Title: QA Lead Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) Duration: 24+ Months
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced QA Lead who combines strong hands-on technical expertise with effective team leadership. This role involves active participation in testing AI-driven and alternative data solutions, along with mentoring a team of QA engineers. You will be responsible for driving quality initiatives, defining testing strategies, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products while staying actively involved in critical testing activities.
What will you do? Lead QA efforts for AI agent testing across multiple projects implementing AI-based solutions. Leverage GenAI tools to enhance test design, execution, and productivity. Mentor and guide QA engineers, supporting both technical growth and career development.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks using tools such as: Behave (Python) Selenium Cypress Playwright (or similar) Perform hands-on testing for critical features, complex scenarios, and architectural validations Allocate resources and prioritize testing activities based on risk assessment and project needs Define and monitor quality metrics, providing regular reports to stakeholders Drive continuous improvement in QA processes, methodologies, and automation practices Foster collaboration between QA, development, and product teams Lead root cause analysis for critical defects and production issues Review and approve test plans, test cases, and automation scripts Manage test environments, test data strategies, and QA infrastructure Champion a quality-first culture and advocate for best testing practices Coordinate release testing activities and provide go/no-go decisions Collaborate with global stakeholders, including teams across Canada and worldwide
Must-have: 8+ years of hands-on software testing experience. 3+ years in a QA Lead or team leadership role. Strong expertise in AI Testing, SDLC, and Agile methodologies. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s is a plus). Expert-level Python programming skills with 5+ years in automation development. Advanced experience in test automation frameworks and tools. Proven track record of leading and mentoring QA teams (3+ members). Strong leadership, decision-making, and people management skills. Experience in defining QA strategies and driving process improvements.
Proficiency with: Version control: Git. CI/CD tools: GitHub Actions, Jenkins.
Expertise in: API testing. Performance testing tools (e.g., Locust). Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to provide technical and architectural guidance. Experience with resource planning, capacity management, and estimation.
Nice-to-have (Optional but beneficial): Experience working in financial services or enterprise-scale environments. Exposure to ML/AI model validation and data testing strategies. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
