HOURLY RATE
$49.64 per hour, Pay Grade 9 -Schedule "13" Outside Employees

Plus, additional per hour for the following qualifications, LOU #7:
$1.00 per hour for Motor Vehicle Inspection Qualification
$1.50 per hour for Emergency Vehicle Technician Level 1
$3.00 per hour for Emergency Vehicle Technician Level 2

POSITION SUMMARY
As a Commercial Mechanic, you'll work in our well-equipped City shop alongside a talented team of technicians, taking the lead on repairing and maintaining a wide range of municipal vehicles and equipment. This role offers the perfect mix of hands-on mechanical work and variety, with opportunities to step into Truck Driver/Labourer duties when needed-keeping each day engaging and dynamic. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION

  • Grade 12 Diploma or GED

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES

  • Valid Class three (3) BC Driver's License with Air Endorsement
  • One of:
    • Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification or
    • Truck and Transport Mechanic Certification (formerly Commercial Transport)

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of two (2) years' experience as a mechanic.

SPECIFIC SKILLS

  • Proven experience with repairing and maintaining electric/electronic systems and brake systems (air/hydraulic)

  • Routine maintenance of motor vehicles and emergency vehicles

  • Upkeep of tools and equipment used in carrying out the duties of mechanic

  • Experience with computers, including the use of fleet maintenance software

  • A complete set of mechanic hand tools must be supplied by the incumbent

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A complete set of mechanic hand tools must be supplied by the incumbent

  • Ability to attain RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance
