DISTRICT LIBRARY MEDIA TECHNICIAN
There is a position available for a District Library Media Technician in the Technology Department with School District No. 60. All applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, May 19, 2026.
Position Description:
Reporting to the District Vice-Principal of Innovation and Technology, this position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the District Library Database, setting and maintaining software configurations for the Library services application(s), administering & providing support for Library software. The position also includes support for training at in-services and professional development workshops for Teacher-Librarians, as well as performing Help Desk services, data management, and data entry work.
Hours of work: Seven (7) hrs. per day, five (5) days per week
Duties to Commence: September 8, 2026
Work Year Base: Ten (10) months per year
Commencing Salary: $29.25/hr.
Duties:
- Assists in maintaining an organized library and textbook circulation system for all libraries in the District.
Prepares data entry for school libraries, including Library system.

Assists in the maintenance, editing and decisions regarding the computer data base.

Catalogues Library resources Cataloguing may be done in English, French and occasionally the German language.

Performs word processing, data entry and other digital tasks as required.

Classifies non-fiction titles for the circulating rural library collection and removes out of date materials.

Support individual and group software training sessions for the Library system.

Provide Help Desk services.

Act as liaison between software technicians and Teacher-Librarians.

Search for and edit cataloguing information, for new items annually.

Process Library resources to make them shelf-ready.

Create and maintain procedures manuals.

Assist with weeding Library collections.

Travel to each library in the District to perform Inventory tasks.

Travel to each library in the District to perform clerical tasks.

Order materials and invoice schools for the costs of library processing.

Classifies non-fiction titles for the circulating rural library collection and removes out of date materials.

Perform other job related duties as directed by the District Vice-Principal of Innovation and Technology.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Grade 12 or equivalency
- Library Technician's Diploma
- 1 year Library experience
- 2 years previous cataloguing experience
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
- Word Processing and computer skills
- Must meet computer skill standards set by School District 60.
- Ability to work independently and set priorities
- W.H.M.I.S. Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
- Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
- Must have a Valid class 5 drivers license
