About the role
Overview
The primary role of the Team Lead is to perform duties as required by a department head and/or Supervisor, to coordinate assembly and fabrication of products for a small group of employees. The Lead designation is that of a “working lead”, where the majority of the employee’s time is hands on as a functioning team member.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Ensure crew is arriving on time, ready and fit for duty at the start of each shift.
- Host a morning meeting with crew at start of shift to delegate work for the day.
- Review any job-related issues or safety concerns.
- Ensure workers have proper material and tools to complete daily tasks.
- Trains new workers on methods and procedures specific to the area of expertise.
- Familiarize self with and/or request training concerning new equipment.
- Establish methods with workers to meet work schedule deadlines.
- Ensure workers are wearing proper PPE and working in a safe manner.
- Ensure quality of work is maintained to a high standard (Quality Control).
- Resolve any work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and quality of work.
- Ensure workers adhere to company rules, policies and procedures.
- Assist in inventory management of material and consumables to prevent sudden shortages which can affect work schedule and productivity
- Completing required paperwork and maintaining accurate record keeping.
- Set goals and manage time efficiently.
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills, team building skills and the ability to supervise and motivate effectively.
- Support shop hygiene and 5-S program.
- Perform all duties in accordance with the Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards.
- Organize department and keep department clean, also clean department at the end of each work day.
- Inspect equipment to ensure good working order.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
- 1 or more years’ experience as a production or construction team lead.
- Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse, and transportation management.
- Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering, as well as inventory control of these items.
- Knowledge of local and federal regulations including AOHS and Employment Standards Code.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets.
- Experience with all safe practices, procedures, and overall processes associated with manufacturing from raw materials to finished product.
Working Conditions
- Commercial/Industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity required to use necessary tools.
- Exercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards.
- Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).
