Do you want to be part of a team that is solving the world's infrastructure challenges? Then this could be the next step in your career!

Create the solutions that will enable a better tomorrow

In this role, you will be challenged to work every day on some of the most advanced bridges, ports and marine, and tunnels projects. You will be exposed to projects in North America working with colleagues across the globe who are highly skilled and deliver innovative solutions.

COWI is seeking an experienced Senior Site Representative and Construction Engineer to join our established Toronto office. In this role you will work closely and collaboratively with our team of engineering experts and project leaders to lead and oversee erection engineering efforts on some of North America's most significant infrastructure projects. Further, you will bring a deep understanding of construction techniques and procedures, as well as client reporting and interfacing skills, to manage day-to-day client communications and resolve construction items in a timely manner.

Apart from being located on a construction site as the Engineer of Record’s (EoR’s) site representative, you will plan and develop engineering inputs such as inspections, evaluations, rehabilitations, engineering services during construction and constructability of designs of structures. In addition, you will be responsible for interfacing with the different erection and construction engineering teams, checking and reviewing construction engineering submissions on behalf of the Contractor, developing concepts and approaches for temporary works, and making key technical decisions. You will not only be given opportunities to grow your level of responsibility but also your skills.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

· Liaise with the erection engineering teams, participate in workshops to resolve potential erection engineering issues.

· Liaise with the Contractor on site to communicate and coordinate, identify erection issues and scope gaps, and coordinate engineering inputs from COWI.

· Perform checks and reviews of erection engineering submittals, before submission to EoR.

· Identify potential construction issues and help the Contractor team to plan and mitigate.

· Provide technical support on concrete segmental bridge segment fabrication on behalf of the project owner including segment casting, geometry control, and post-tensioning.

· Ensure work is completed following plans and specifications and prepare daily written reports of construction activities with narratives that relate work completed to the contract documents.

· Prepare extra work estimates with associated documentation, maintain photographic records of site activities, and fulfill other required tasks.

· Supervise and coordinate teams of engineers and technicians, including reviewing the work produced and coaching staff to enhance their professional skills.

· Perform structural analysis, design, and evaluation and be responsible for the preparation of calculations, drawings, work plans, schedules, and budgets

· Prepare standard documents, such as technical specifications, under applicable design codes along with engineering reports and other technical documents

· Research and review design options for both technical and financial impact

· Liaise with other professionals, clients, and third parties as needed

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.

The first step to success in this role is that you are eager to collaborate with the people around you, whether they are colleagues, partners or customers. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your ways, but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you will have:

· Hold a Bachelor or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with a minimum of 6 years of related industry experience in Bridge Design/Construction and Project Management, or 8 years of equivalent combination of education and work experience in Engineering and/or Construction oversight · Be a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or can obtain within 12 months of employment · Prior experience working on transportation construction projects, specifically cast-in-place or precast segmental bridges · Have great technical expertise in problem solving, demonstrated experience developing tasks in bridge, tunnel or marine design and construction, and working knowledge of modern bridge design codes · Have prior experience as a site rep and have experience in site inspections, collaboration with contractors, field review reports, RFIs, NCRs and other QAQC related elements · Have been great communication and team management skills.
