About the Position: The Login Clerk 2 is responsible for sample receipt and log-in, client services, data entry, and sample subletting as well as bottle preparation.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Accepts samples and accurately processes cash payments in accordance with internal accounting practices for sample processing from private clients, enters all payments into the appropriate file
  • Labeling select workorders under supervision
  • Accurate Data entry of all Chain of Custody information into internal Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS);
  • Provides assistance and feedback to clients regarding basic questions arising in sample receipt area;
  • Receive work orders as they arrive in the laboratory & performs sample triage;
  • Open and layout samples and paperwork to confirm all required samples have been received;
  • Enters client account number, project for billing and contact information in sample login screen;
  • Enter analytical codes for samples;
  • Familiarity with all ALS location turnaround times (TAT’s);
  • Transport samples into lab;
  • Clean, organize and distribute coolers as needed;
  • Ensure adherence to all procedures and policies (safety, quality, employment and technical);
  • Train other staff;
  • Follow safety requirements in Safety Manual & communicate all safety concerns/incidents to Safety Rep;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Office (Word and Outlook), with basic knowledge of computers;
  • Must have good organizational skills and be able to handle a fluctuating work load and prioritize work with great attention to detail;
  • Excellent customer services skills, verbal skills including telephone answering;
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision;
  • Must be well organized and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Experience in Customer Service including cash handling;
  • BSc or Technical Diploma in Environmental Science or Chemistry an asset;

Physical Demands

  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) as required;
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs./14 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
  • Ability to sit or stand for a full shift;
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant odours;
  • Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and graveyard shift work including weekends .
