Overview:
Position Summary
The Internal Collision Estimator is responsible for assessing collision damage and creating accurate repair estimates specifically for internal dealership repairs, including service department referrals, used-car reconditioning, warranty-related repairs, and OEM-certified work. This role works closely with the collision center team, service advisors, parts departments, and used-vehicle managers to ensure all repairs meet OEM standards, timelines, and cost expectations. A strong understanding of OEM repair procedures, estimating systems, and internal dealership operations is essential.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections for internal repairs, including service customer damage, warranty-related repairs, and used vehicle reconditioning.
- Develop detailed, accurate estimates using approved estimating systems (CCC, Mitchell, Audatex).
- Ensure all repair plans follow strict OEM repair procedures and certification requirements.
- Communicate with internal dealership departments (service, used vehicles, parts) to review repair needs, timelines, and cost expectations.
- Coordinate with the parts department to verify parts availability, pricing, and order status.
- Work closely with collision center technicians to confirm scope of work, repair feasibility, and necessary supplements.
- Maintain complete and accurate repair documentation, internal communications, and estimate updates.
- Assist with quality control checks to verify repairs were completed accurately and in accordance with OEM guidelines.
- Support internal workflow efficiencies to minimize vehicle downtime and maximize shop productivity.
- All other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
- Experience as a collision estimator, body shop appraiser, or related collision repair role (OEM dealership experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of collision repair processes, OEM repair procedures, and industry estimating standards.
- Proficiency with estimating platforms such as CCC, Mitchell, or Audatex.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly with internal dealership teams.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
- Ability to manage multiple internal repair requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
