The Park is one of BC?s most popular outdoor recreation destinations offering golfing, hiking, sport fishing, watersports and much more. The individual in this role reports to the Public Works Supervisor and assists management to achieve an efficient and economical operation through the maintenance of Park utilities, infrastructure, and amenities. The employee will also aid with the maintenance and upkeep of public areas, construction and installation of Park works in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices.Knowledge, skills and abilities: Completion of grade 12 supplemented by a minimum of two years? experience in a similar work environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence with no restrictions; general knowledge of carpentry practices and use of power tools; ability to readily recognize, rectify and/or report upon actual or potential safety hazards; appropriate communication skills including the ability to express thoughts and ideas clearly, converse with a wide range of people and demonstrate an aptitude to interact with contractors, staff and the general public with courtesy, diplomacy and tact; ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance overlapping priorities; ability to complete WHMIS training; and a satisfactory police information check.This is a Union position under the Collective Agreement between Cultus Lake Park and CUPE Local 458. The incumbent will normally work 37.5 hours per week with a 7.5 hour day scheduled between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm summer hours (May 1st to September 15th) then 6:00 am and 4:00 pm winter hours (September 16th to April 30th). Shifts may include weekends and statutory holidays and overtime may be required from time to time. Performance of duties requires travel and working outside in all kinds of climactic conditions. The incumbent is required to follow all safety practices and procedures in the performance of duties.The wage rate for this position starts at $31.65.
