Education: College/CEGEP. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Dangerous. Noisy. Dusty. At heights. Confined spaces. Work setting: Installation. Shop fabrication. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Measure and mark sheet metal according to template. Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal. Operate laser cutters. Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces. Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification. Operate plasma cutters. Develop computerized pattern and layout. Cut materials using power tools or by hand. Assemble, erect and install hoisting and rigging equipment. Estimate costs and materials. Fit and join sheet metal parts. Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes. Specialization or experience: Green economy sector. Decorative metal sheets. Pre-fabricated metal buildings. Sheeting and cladding. Stainless steel equipment. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Hand-eye co-ordination. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Handling heavy loads. Tight deadlines. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Safety glasses/goggles. Personal suitability: Dependability. Efficient interpersonal skills. Excellent oral communication. Judgement. Organized. Team player.
