About the role
VOLCANIX AUTOMATION is seeking a Technical Project Manager to drive controls and automation project delivery for a large-scale advanced energy manufacturing facility in the Northeastern United States. This role is for someone who came up through controls or automation engineering and moved into project leadership. You need to understand PLC logic, SCADA architecture, and robotic integration well enough to manage the work, catch problems early, and hold technical conversations with the team and the client. You're the person who keeps delivery on track.
Responsibilities Manage controls and automation project delivery end-to-end Coordinate engineers across PLC, SCADA, and robotics workstreams Track scope, schedule, and milestones Report project status to client stakeholders Remove blockers and keep cross-functional teams aligned Support production launches and system commissioning activities Step into technical reviews and hold the team accountable to quality standards Ensure documentation, validation, and buy-off processes are followed Manage resource planning across a multi-discipline controls team Comfort working on-site in fast-paced production environments Strong problem-solving mindset
Required Skills Technical Background: 8+ years in controls or automation engineering, with project management experience Experience delivering automation projects in a manufacturing setting Working knowledge of: Ignition Platform (SCADA) Siemens PLCs (TIA Portal) Fanuc and ABB robotics Enough technical depth to manage the work, even if you're not coding daily Engineering or technical degree preferred Project Management: Strong stakeholder communication and reporting skills Experience managing multi-discipline engineering teams on-site Proven ability to manage scope, schedule, and competing priorities PMP or equivalent certification is a plus, not a requirement
Work Authorization We welcome candidates who are: Eligible for TN Visa Authorized to work and travel across North America
