KMC specializes in high-performance alloys and friction materials from raw materials to finished products under one roof in Orillia, Canada. Manufacturing unique heat-resistant alloys and high-nickel/chrome alloys primarily for the petrochemical industries, Kubota leads the industry in quality and advanced technology. As per customer requirements, Kubota designs and casts centrifugal pipes and static castings of fittings, which are then machined, welded (Automatic, Semi-Automatic, Orbital & Manual), GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, followed by in-house NDT (RT, PT, VT), in-house DT, R&D lab, as well as hydro testing.
Summary:
Responsible for performing various inspection and testing functions as outlined in Quality Assurance (QA) documentation. The role includes testing such as liquid penetrant, pressure, air soap, ultrasonic, visual inspections, final release inspections and other forms of testing as required to ensure products meet regulatory and quality standards as well as customer specifications.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
- Ensure work area(s) comply with safe and proper housekeeping standards at all times
- Complete all inspection functions as detailed in the manufacturing instructions on a daily basis
- Maintain accurate and thorough records and documentation in line with regulations, Quality Assurance standards and Kubota
- Effectively administrate liquid penetrant testing (LPI) to detect defects, flaws or irregularities within manufactured products without damaging the products
- Execute pressure testing and air soap testing to verify product integrity without causing harm to any products
- Administrate final product release inspections according to customer quality requirements and specifications
- Accurately measure tubes with the use of tools, including but not limited to verniers, calipers and measuring tapes
- Follow all policies and procedures as mandated by Kubota and ISO
- Perform all other testing methods as needed
- To perform other duties as assigned for the position

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of Grade 12 education
- Successfully completed the Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) II course through a credited institution and CGSB Level II (PT Level II License) certification is required
- ISO 9001:2000 knowledge is considered an asset
- Prior experience with heavy equipment is an asset
- Manufacturing or foundry environment experience is an asset
- Ability to operate an overhead crane, forklift, and other machinery
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Skilled in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings for product inspection at all production stages
Physical / Psychological Demands & Working Conditions:
- 2-week cycle shift rotations required, including Days, Night, and Afternoon (40 hr) workweek
- Standing and walking for prolonged periods
- Manual dexterity for handling small parts and tools
- Lifting and moving equipment/materials (up to 25-50 lbs)
- Visual acuity for reading blueprints and inspecting parts
- Exposure to noise, dust, and fluctuating temperatures (requires PPE)
- High levels of concentration and focus
- Exposure to chemicals
