Overall Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities
Prepare detailed analysis, design, and project deliverables including drawings, specifications and reports for general
marine terminal infrastructure.
Prepare design criteria and construction specifications. Prepare quantity take-offs and assist in the preparation of capital cost estimates. Conduct field work and support during construction. Attend project coordination meetings and liaise with project team members, clients, sub-consultants, contractors and
regulatory and environmental approval agencies.
Liaise with clients to determine client requirements and prepare proposals, design work cost estimate, and project
scheduling.
Mentor/direct junior staff and review their works. Actively encourage and support a safety-oriented culture. Travel as required for various field programs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a degree in civil engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution (a master’s
degree is preferred).
Relevant years of experience in marine structural engineering/research, or a related discipline. Registered or eligibility for registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer. Design and inspection experience in marine structures including docks, marinas, ports, piers, steel sheet pile structures,
steel, timber and concrete pile structures, floating structures and waterfront facilities.
Experience in large scale industrial and maritime projects. Port layout and planning experience. Experience with tides, currents, wave and wind forces. Experience with berthing, mooring, and passing ship analysis. Experience with seismic design, structural analysis software. Experience with MOTEM standard. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills (written and verbal).
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is CAD $91,594 to $164,514.
Application of the pay band: Variation in salary is determined by factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant
years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
