The Opportunity

Tidewater has an immediate opening for a Gas Plant Operator. This is a full-time position based out of our RAM River Facility near Rocky Mountain House, AB. We are looking for permanent full time and contract positions.

Key Responsibilities

Participates in plant safety and competency training programs.
Ensures all maintenance within their area of control is being carried out in a safe manner and work procedures are being followed.
All tasks executed in a knowledgeable and safe manner.
Ensure all Maintenance tasks are permitted, energy controlled and hazard assessed as required.
Involved in the development and writing of plant standard, critical, and safe operating procedures

Utilities:
Makes regular checks of all equipment in their area to check operating parameters and to ensure safety regulations are being observed.
Conducts boiler tests on all units, checking guidelines and parameters.
All utility systems – instrument air, utility air, breathing air, nitrogen, and glycol system.
Sulphur train process flows and condenser operations – ensures temperatures are normal and Sulphur flows are according to train load.
Looks after all pre-water treatment equipment.
Transfer of all liquid Sulphur in the plant.
Assists the other operators in the Plant, or is in charge when requested or required, with duties on utility systems, Sulphur trains and power boilers.

Process:
Makes regular rounds of all equipment that pertains to unit, checking operating parameters and for safety.
Controls and operates plant inlet, Condensate Stabilization unit, amine treating unit and dewpoint control unit, including chemical lists, controlling flows and temperatures as per desired loads.
Assists other operators as required.

Specific Accountabilities:
Receives direction from the Control Room operator on a continuous basis on all abnormal situations or major operating changes. Handles all unit duties with very little supervision. On specific situations may receive direction from a Foreman or Senior Operator.
Would handle only standard or normal operating matters with all other matters being directed to a senior operator, until competency is achieved.
Will make recommendations to senior operators or supervisor on technical operating matters for improved operating efficiency and safety.

Ideal Candidate

ABSA 3rd Class Steam certification required and actively working towards their 2nd class certification would be preferred
Experience in gas plant operations, preferably with sour gas experience as an asset
Consideration will be given to those with similar industrial steam plant and processing experience
Progression to Senior levels available and wage will be based on certification and experience
A successful applicant should be a strong team player, capable of working closely with a variety of groups but also a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
Capable of working a rotating 12-hour shift schedule
Preference will be given to Candidates living in the Rocky Mountain House area
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and provide a drivers abstract upon request
