Head of Information Technology

The Head of IT leads all aspects of IT for the Kenaidan Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV), with accountability for both day-to-day operations and the longer-term technology strategy that supports a complex, multi-year construction program. KMJV runs on a broad portfolio of business and project-delivery applications, and this role owns how those tools fit together — evaluating the application landscape, optimizing the workflows that run across them, and partnering with end users and parent-company IT teams to make the joint venture measurably more efficient. The successful candidate is a hands-on strategic leader who is equally comfortable setting direction with executives, rationalizing an application portfolio, and rolling up their sleeves to design an integration, automate a process, or troubleshoot a critical issue.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

Strategy & Leadership

• Own the IT strategy for KMJV end-to-end, aligning technology investments with project, operational, and joint-venture business objectives.

• Serve as the senior IT point of contact for KMJV leadership; translate business priorities into a multi-year technology roadmap with clear outcomes, milestones, and KPIs.

• Lead, mentor, and develop the KMJV IT team; set performance expectations and build a culture of service, ownership, and continuous improvement.

• Align standards where possible or needed, and resolve cross-organization dependencies with the parent-company IT departments (Kenaidan and Murphy)

• Stay current on emerging technologies (AI/automation, cloud, construction tech) and make defensible recommendations on where to invest, pilot, or hold.

Application Portfolio & Workflow Optimization

• Maintain a living inventory of all applications used across KMJV — project management, field, finance, document control, scheduling, safety, HR, and collaboration tools — including ownership, cost, integrations, and business value.

• Continuously assess the portfolio for overlap, underuse, and gaps; recommend consolidation, replacement, or retirement to reduce cost and complexity.

• Map and analyze the cross-application workflows that run the business (e.g., procure-to-pay, RFI/submittal, change order, timesheet-to-payroll, document handover); identify bottlenecks and lead targeted process-optimization initiatives.

• Design and implement integrations between systems (APIs, middleware, iPaaS, Power Platform) to eliminate duplicate data entry and manual handoffs.

• Champion automation, low-code, and citizen-developer practices where they produce measurable productivity gains; set the guardrails (governance, security, supportability) that make them safe at scale.

• Work directly with application vendors and internal subject-matter experts to configure systems to KMJV’s actual workflows rather than defaulting to out-of-the-box behavior.

Business Analysis & Solution Delivery

• Bring a business analyst mindset to the role: gather, document, and validate business requirements; assess current-state processes; and translate operational needs into practical, scalable technology solutions.

• Lead solution delivery efforts from intake through implementation, coordinating with internal stakeholders, vendors, and parent-company IT teams to ensure timelines, scope, and business outcomes are met.

• Establish fit-for-purpose delivery practices including requirements management, solution design documentation, stakeholder sign-off, testing coordination, change management, and user adoption support.

• Define and own KMJV’s data and reporting strategy; partner with finance, operations, and project controls to deliver trusted dashboards, meaningful business insights, and decision-support reporting.

IT Infrastructure, Security & Operations

• Oversee deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and support of all KMJV IT systems — servers, networks, end-user devices, cloud services, and site connectivity.

• In collaboration with parent-company security teams, lead KMJV’s cyber defense program: risk assessments, incident response, identity and access management, awareness training, and measurable improvements in security posture.

• Develop and maintain IT policies and procedures covering architecture, security, disaster recovery, acceptable use, purchasing, and service delivery.

• Implement and manage cloud-based solutions, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans appropriate to a project-driven environment with field offices and remote sites.

• Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcing, and consultant contracts and service agreements; manage IT spend against budget.

• Oversee end-user services — help desk, technical support, onboarding/offboarding, and field IT support — with clear SLAs and a strong customer-service orientation.

• Practice disciplined asset management for hardware, software, and licensing.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Maintain regular, structured communication with KMJV executives, project leaders, and end users on IT initiatives, risks, and performance.

• Run intake and prioritization for technology requests; partner with stakeholders to define business and system requirements before solutioning.

• Represent KMJV IT in joint-venture governance, audits, and parent-company forums.

• Other duties may be reasonably required to support the objectives of the Company.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.

• Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., ITIL, PMP, CISSP, Microsoft Azure/M365/Power Platform, AWS, Lean/Six Sigma, or cloud/security).

• 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ years leading an IT function.

• Proven experience managing application portfolios and driving measurable process/workflow improvements.

• Hands-on experience in development, scripting, integration, or solution configuration (e.g., Power Platform, Python/PowerShell, REST APIs, SQL, iPaaS tools).

• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), identity management (SSO, MFA, Entra ID), networking, and cybersecurity controls.

• Track record of selecting, implementing, and integrating enterprise systems; vendor and contract management experience.

• Familiarity with construction technology (e.g., Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, Primavera, Viewpoint Vista) is an asset.

• Experience in joint venture or matrixed environments is an asset.

• Knowledge of data privacy and regulatory requirements.

• Solid project management expertise and experience leading help desk teams.

• Strategic and hands-on; able to execute while driving long-term direction.

• Strong process mindset with the ability to identify and optimize workflows.

• Excellent communication skills, translating technical concepts for business audiences.

• Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder management capabilities.

• Analytical, detail-oriented, and highly self-directed in fast-paced environments.

• Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills, including IT research and analysis.

Salary Range: Between $150,000 - $180,000 depending on experience
