Summary

FIO Automotive Canada is seeking a results-driven Production Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team and drive operational excellence across our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for strategic leadership, capital project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives that support safe, efficient, and cost-effective production.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Production Engineering team

Strategy & Business Planning

  • Develop and execute departmental strategy (Hoshin objectives)
  • Lead annual planning including budgets, headcount, and capital investments
  • Track and manage KPIs aligned with safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and processes

Project Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead capital projects, including new model launches and capacity expansions
  • Oversee installation and commissioning of equipment and tooling
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen initiatives
  • Identify and implement process and technology improvements
  • Ensure projects meet timeline, budget, and performance targets

Technical Leadership & Production Support

  • Provide escalation support for complex manufacturing issues
  • Lead problem-solving and root cause analysis activities
  • Maintain engineering standards, documentation, and process controls
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, and Quality

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OHSA and regulatory bodies (MOL, ESA, TSSA)
  • Oversee safety reviews and risk assessments for equipment
  • Promote and enforce best practices in workplace safety
  • Build departmental structure, workforce planning, and succession strategies
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Drive performance management and employee development

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering Degree or Diploma (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Welding, or related)
  • 15+ years of manufacturing engineering experience (automotive preferred)
  • 5+ years in a leadership role
  • Experience leading capital projects and cross-functional teams
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office

Work Environment

This position operates within a manufacturing facility and includes:

  • Regular time on the production floor
  • Exposure to industrial equipment and noise
