Assistant Maintenance/ Facility Manager 

Location: Mississauga, Ontario 

Department: Maintenance 

Reports To: Area Maintenance Manager 

Hours: Monday–Friday, 2:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. (Afternoon Shift)

Coach Canada is seeking an experienced Assistant Maintenance Manager to lead the daily operations of our Mississauga maintenance facility. This role combines hands-on maintenance leadership with strong administrative oversight to ensure fleet reliability, regulatory compliance, and efficient shop operations.

ASSISTANT FLEET MANAGER KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate daily with the Day Shift Assistant Maintenance Manager to prioritize work, communicate fleet status, align maintenance activities, and ensure a smooth transition between shifts. 
  • Lead and support mechanics, apprentices, and wash bay employees. Oversee daily shop operations and fleet readiness. 
  • Manage work orders, maintenance records, preventative maintenance schedules, and employee timecards. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements. 
  • Coordinate employee scheduling, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management. 
  • Hold team members accountable for safety, quality of work, productivity, and adherence to company policies and procedures. 
  • Support apprentice development through Skilled Trades Ontario. 
  • Collaborate with Operations to prioritize work and minimize downtime. 
  • Contribute to department meetings by providing operational updates, identifying opportunities for improvement, and supporting business initiatives. 
  • Support the achievement of key maintenance performance indicators, including fleet availability, preventative maintenance compliance (PMs), and miles per breakdown. 
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide leadership support for a 24/7 operation.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Valid 310T Truck and Coach Technician Licence. Leadership experience in a fleet or heavy-duty maintenance environment. 
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and computer skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records. 
  • Experience using Fleet Focus, Samsara, Saucon, and Microsoft Office. Proven ability to lead teams, hold employees accountable, drive performance, and contribute to operational and business objectives. 
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 
  • Valid commercial driver's licence (as required). Valid passport with the ability to travel to the United States. 
  • Successful candidates must comply with the Company's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, including pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable cause testing, as a condition of employment.
