Tri-global Solutions Group Inc. is seeking one (1) Data Analyst (Digital Regulatory Assurance System) to join our Service Delivery team with the Ministry of Environment & Protected Areas (Government of Alberta).
WORK MODEL: The successful candidate(s) will be working primarily remotely from within the Province of Alberta. There is a possibility of working from the office one day per month, when there is a scheduled meeting. Offices are located within the Province of Alberta. Work must be done from within Alberta, due to network and data security policies. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time. Any travel will be at the contractor’s own expense and at no cost to the Province.

PROJECT OVERVIEW / DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES
Working alongside existing programs and technical staff, the Data Analyst provides focused analytical capacity during the model design and build phases. This includes validating and testing core data models, canonical definitions, and Unified Business Object designs using real environmental monitoring and regulatory data to ensure the data foundation reflects how the business operates.
Responsibilities:
A. Model Validation
- Test proposed canonical elements against actual datasets.
- Validate Unified Business Object model assumptions using:
o Historical monitoring data
o Reporting templates
o Program specific datasets
- Surface edge cases early during design and build phases.
B. Semantic analysis at the core data layers
- Analyze:
o Measurement comparability
o Unit normalization issues
o Data type and temporal consistency (e.g., sample dates vs reporting dates)
- Identify where:
o Standardization is safe vs. standardization would break meaning
- Produce evidence-based recommendations to support the data architecture.
C. Analytical Prototyping in the Data Management Platform
- Build exploratory analytical views to test:
o Aggregation behavior
o Trend stability
o Query feasibility at scale, especially for large, ambient monitoring datasets
- Answer questions like:
o Can this model support cross program trend analysis?
o Does the chosen data model work at scale?
MANDATORY SKILLS
– The proposed resource should have a degree/diploma in business or IT, or Certified Business Analysis Professional from the International Institute of Business Analysis. Please attach a copy of the degree/diploma to the resume. (Yes or No)
– Direct, hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis, solution architecture and design, and deployment related to data analysis, data analytics, data visualization, data science, data mining. (3 years+)
– Direct, hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis related to data manipulation/transformation, cleansing and wrangling. (3 years+)
– Direct hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions that transform regulated and complex datasets into actionable insights for policy, operations and executive reporting. (3 years+)
DESIRABLE / NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
– Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives, facilitate workshops, and communicate effectively with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders; includes planning, estimation, presenting data and AI solutions and standards, and risk assessments. (3 years+)
– Demonstrated ability to work directly with senior leadership. Including Service Owners, Service Directors, Executive Directors, and Architecture Review Boards – actively shaping data platform strategy, validating solution direction, and aligning architectural decisions with organizational priorities and enterprise technology standards. (3 years+)
– Experience assessing and documenting gaps in data governance frameworks, including policy, procedures, standards, and solutions through current-state analysis. (3 years+)
– Experience gathering requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases or scenarios, business analysis, and business process modeling. (3 years+)
