The Opportunity Canada’s rail electrification sector is growing rapidly, with major investment in overhead contact systems and light rail transit networks. You’ll provide expert advisory support to clients across some of the most complex rail programmes in North America, helping ensure technical integrity, value for money, and successful project delivery.

Responsibilities Act as a technical advisor, providing independent, evidence-based assessments of OCS engineering and programme delivery Review and assess OCS designs and contractor deliverables across all project stages, including drawings, specifications, and installation methodologies Identify technical risks, non-compliances, and gaps, producing clear and structured reports for clients Review specifications and requirements for clarity, completeness, and compliance with relevant standards Assess contractor cost proposals, variations, and commercial submissions for technical robustness Support tender processes by reviewing documentation and evaluating technical submissions Prepare and present reports, risk registers, and briefings to senior stakeholders and governance boards Advise on standards selection and application where regional guidance may be limited Support and mentor junior team members to build capability within the team

Qualifications and Experience Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience) Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligibility for licensure in Canada Minimum 10 years’ experience in OLE/OCS engineering across multiple project phases Strong knowledge of AC and DC traction systems and OCS design principles Experience reviewing engineering deliverables within design, assurance, or advisory environments Understanding of construction sequencing, installation, and commissioning of OCS systems Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders Eligibility to work in Canada or willingness to relocate.

Desirable Experience Experience in independent assurance, owner’s engineer, or technical advisory roles Involvement in major electrification programmes across the UK, Europe, or North America Experience with high voltage systems or high-speed rail infrastructure Knowledge of RAMS, safety assurance, and entry-into-service processes Familiarity with major Canadian programmes (e.g. Metrolinx, TTC, LRT projects) Project management or technical leadership experience
