This position is currently open and reflects a replacement position due to an internal transfer, promotion, or departure. The salary range for this position is $22 to $26 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity. This range is provided to ensure clarity and promote equitable access to employment opportunities. Shift Schedule:Day Shift: 5:00AM-5:00PM (2-2-3)Night Shift: 5:00PM-5:00AM (Tuesday to Wednesday, 1 week on, 1 week off) The Roll Tender is responsible for ensuring a continuous supply of paper to the web offset press to support uninterrupted production. This role involves loading, preparing, and managing paper rolls, including performing roll changes and pastes at press speed. The Roll Tender also supports Press Operators with press setup, operation, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance, helping to maintain production efficiency, print quality, and equipment performance. Responsibilities When your actions lead to success: Assist with press setup and changeovers to ensure efficient production transitions Support the installation, adjustment, and maintenance of ink and water rollers, blankets, and printing plates Set up roll stands and align borders on running machines Prepare paper rolls and paste-ups for the continuous operation of the flying paster Verify job docket information and ensure the correct paper stock, basis weight, supplier, and size are used Replenish blanket wash, rags, and other supplies in preparation for downtime and maintenance activities Inspect and clean ink leveller sensors to maintain a consistent ink supply to the fountain Retrieve and organize printing plates for upcoming jobs and version changes Complete required documentation, including tags and check copies, for all job, version, crew, and plate changes Monitor and maintain glue levels in pressure cans to prevent production interruptions Assist with floor copy collection and stacker troubleshooting at the front end of the press Supply cut roll wraps and roll ends to the stacker area as required Maintain cleanliness of the press, guards, tools, equipment, and production areas Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks and work orders Accurately complete roll reports in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Support general press maintenance activities to maximize equipment performance and uptime Report equipment damage and repair requirements through the Pressman and Internal Work Request system Follow all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards while performing assigned duties Qualifications When your expertise drives us: High School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent Minimum 4 years of experience working on a web offset printing press Proven ability to maneuver paper rolls and perform successful roll pastes Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting press equipment Ability to assist with press roller changes, adjustments, and maintenance activities Accurate color perception and attention to print quality standards Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to adapt to changing production priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Ability to read, understand, and communicate technical information in English When benefits really help you live better: We offer a comprehensive and flexible benefits package designed to support your well-being and help you thrive—at work and at home.
