Position Overview:
We are seeking a Grid Infrastructure Department Manager to join our Grid Infrastructure Planning Department. Reporting to the
Director of Integrated Resource Planning, and as a key member of the management team, the Department Manager, Grid
Infrastructure, will provide strategic leadership over the development and management of specialized studies which support and
enhance the enterprise's ability to meet strategic, operational and financial objectives. This role will be key in optimizing and
enhancing the grid delivery energy aligned to our strategic objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of plans for the growth and transformation of Manitoba Hydro's electric power transmission system to
meet the evolving needs of Manitoba Hydro customers.
- Oversee deterministic and probabilistic planning studies and preparation of complex technical reports that direct the
development of the major electrical transmission network and ensure the ongoing reliability of Manitoba Hydro's AC
transmission and sub-transmission systems and identify transmission facilities required connect large industrial customers.
- Review transmission planning studies required to grant transmission service requests and generator interconnection requests
under the Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) and Open Access Interconnection Tariff (OAIT).
- Liaise with neighbouring utilities and interconnection coordinating committees to ensure consistency assumptions in the
development and maintenance of the common study models used throughout the eastern interconnection and ensure
compliance with System Planning-related NERC standards.
- Oversee complex electromagnetic transient studies including modeling of Geomagnetically. Induced Currents and
coordination of System Planning's NERC compliance program.
- Ensure completion of all studies and model development required for the long-term planning of Manitoba Hydro's High
Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) and Northern Collector System.
- Oversee the undertaking and reporting on electromagnetic field modeling and measurement, and stewardship of Manitoba
Hydro's Fault Analysis and Lightning Location System (FALLS).
- Lead technical participation in provincial and federal legislative processes, and interprovincial and federal efforts related to
interprovincial and international transmission initiatives.
- Collaborate with distribution planning areas on integrated analysis and planning studies across the energy delivery system.

Qualifications:
- An Engineering Degree in an applicable discipline with nine years of related experience demonstrating progressively greater
responsibility in a supervisory/leadership capacity and a professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists
Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a specified amount of time).

- Completion of a four-year degree program from an institute of recognized standing in an applicable discipline plus nine years
of directly related experience, demonstrating progressively greater responsibility in a supervisory/leadership capacity or an
equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic leadership in planning, organizing, and managing multiple activities within strict
timelines.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills; with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
management and staff throughout the enterprise.
- Knowledge of utility operational activities and business requirements.
- Strong analytical skills.
- An ability to work effectively with a broad network of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in strategic planning and business unit planning activities.
- Excellent understanding of Safety, Health & Environment standards and policies.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $62.82-$86.07 Hourly,
$120,372.72-$164,936.72 Annually.
