The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) is one of 27 regional districts in BC. We are a local government that provides governance and delivers a wide range of services to people living in seven electoral areas and four member municipalities that include, the City of Prince George, the District of Mackenzie, and the Villages of McBride and Valemount. Our administrative office is in Prince George, in North Central, BC on the unceded ancestral lands of the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation.

The Superintendent of Utilities, Facilities, and Regional Parks will contribute to the effective operation of the utilities (water and sanitary sewer), RDFFG office building, parks throughout the Regional District by coordinating, providing leadership, and directing a wide range of services, programs and projects related to managing various services including regional parks, wastewater systems, drinking water systems and building operations.
Reporting to the Senior Manager of Environmental Services, the Superintendent has supervisory responsibility and monitors the performance of assigned employees and contractors, is accountable for the safe and efficient use of Regional District resources equipment and materials, and the administration and evaluation of service and construction contracts.
Reporting directly to this position includes the Utilities Leader, Field Supervisor (1), Environmental Services Lead Hand (1), Utilities Operator (1) and other staffing resources at the Foothills Blvd. Landfill. The incumbent also oversees the work of various contractors and consultants, as required.
The incumbent will work out of the 155 George Street office building on a daily basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in drinking water, wastewater, environmental science, civil/environmental engineering or technology related fields.
Five (5) years prior job-related experience in a small water or wastewater systems, water distribution, water treatment, wastewater collection and treatment wastewater including a minimum of three (3) years current experience in a leadership capacity.
Experience in parks operations and/or facilities maintenance would be an asset.
Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
Valid First Aid Level 1 Certification or equivalent
An Environmental Operators Certification EOCP) in a minimum of one of the following:
- Level1WaterDistribution/Water Treatment
- Level1WastewaterCollection/Wastewater Treatment;
- Small Water System (includes distribution and treatment);
- Small Wastewater System (includes collection and treatment); or,
- Multi-Utility
Position Compensation
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $105,000 and will be commensurate with education and years of experience.
