About the role
Actual role: Electronics Service Technician — Pro AV / LED Walls / Stage Lighting GTR Direct, a division of GTR Industries, is looking for a hands-on electronics technician to join our growing pro AV business in Toronto. We sell, rent, service, and support professional AV equipment, including LED video walls, stage lighting fixtures, moving lights, DMX/network control equipment, power supplies, audio/video gear, and related production electronics. This is an in-person technical role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting real equipment, repairing electronics properly, and helping build a stronger service department inside a growing pro AV company.
Responsibilities Diagnose and repair LED wall panels, power supplies, data connections, and related LED video wall components Service and troubleshoot stage lighting fixtures, moving heads, LED bars, DMX fixtures, motors, fans, sensors, power supplies, and control boards Test and inspect incoming/outgoing rental, demo, open-box, and service equipment Perform soldering, connector repair, cable repair, board inspection, and component-level replacement where possible Use tools such as multimeters, soldering stations, bench power supplies, cable testers, DMX testers, and basic network tools Assist with quality control, product testing, and technical support for equipment sold through GTR Direct Work with the sales, rental, and warehouse teams to support repairs, customer issues, returns, and warranty claims Document repair findings, parts used, service notes, and repeat failure patterns Help keep the service area clean, organized, and efficient Ideal Experience Electronics repair, AV service, LED wall service, lighting repair, or similar technical background Comfortable troubleshooting power, signal, data, connectors, PCBs, and basic control systems Experience with soldering, cable repair, and connector replacement Familiarity with DMX, Art-Net, sACN, Ethernet, LED processors, receiving cards, and stage lighting equipment is a strong asset Experience with moving lights, pro audio, video, rental gear, or production equipment is a major plus Able to read wiring diagrams, pinouts, service notes, and basic schematics Comfortable using test equipment and following a logical troubleshooting process What We’re Looking For A hands-on problem solver Detail-oriented and careful with equipment Reliable, organized, and able to document work clearly Interested in pro AV, concerts, lighting, LED walls, electronics, and technical service Someone who can grow into a key technical role at GTR Direct Nice-to-Have Skills LED wall processor and receiving card experience Stage lighting fixture repair Moving light repair PCB rework Firmware loading and testing Network troubleshooting Experience with rental, touring, or production equipment Compensation Compensation depends on experience. We are open to junior, intermediate, or senior candidates, as long as the person is capable, reliable, and willing to learn. Location Toronto / GTA area. This is an in-person role, with occasional off-site service or production support when needed.
