Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Calgary, AB for an Automatic Door Field Technician. The technician installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains automatic door systems at customer locations, ensuring safe and reliable operation. Daily tasks include diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, replacing parts in accordance with manufacturer specifications, and completing service documentation. The role involves traveling to different customer sites, interacting with customers to explain work performed, and providing recommendations for ongoing maintenance or upgrades. Technicians work both independently and as part of a team, following safety standards, company procedures, and applicable regulations. Qualifications
Mechanical aptitude and experience with installation, repair, and maintenance of doors, hardware, or similar building systems. Basic electrical knowledge, including safe use of test equipment and ability to read simple wiring diagrams. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for diagnosing equipment issues in the field. Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively, and to follow technical instructions and manufacturer specifications. Customer service skills, including clear communication, professionalism, and ability to explain technical findings in accessible terms. Comfort working independently, managing daily schedules, and completing accurate service reports and documentation. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record for travel to customer sites in the Calgary area and surrounding regions. Willingness to work in varied environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and climbing ladders. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or experience in trades (e.g., electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or locksmithing) is an asset. Understanding of and commitment to workplace safety practices and relevant industry standards.
