Role description:
Arcadis is looking for a Construction Site Coordinator/Inspector to provide on-site leadership, day-to-day supervision, and logistical coordination for assigned work packages along the Yonge North Subway Extension (YNSE) corridor, as part of the Technical Advisor services and on behalf of Metrolinx model.
Role accountabilities:
Review technical submissions, field changes, and shop drawings to verify alignment with design specifications.
Oversee the implementation of the Quality Management Plan (s) and ensure conformance with relevant contractor documentation.
Perform compliance inspections against project/contract requirements.
Verify materials, workmanship and installations to ensure compliance with design specifications, shop drawings and other relevant contract documents.
Escalate non-compliance to Owner and initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Witness testing, inspections and commissioning.
Coordinate change order requests with the Construction Compliance and Design Teams.
Establish and maintain relevant construction site reports such as inspection reports, RFI logs, deficiency lists, etc.
Ensure contractor compliance with technical standards, regulatory approvals, owner specifications in addition to the project design, IFC drawings and specifications.
Contribute to the preparation of substantial performance and total completion correspondence when certified by Project Co. and all other approval requirements are satisfied.
Monitor daily field operations, subcontractors, and trade labour across multiple construction sites as directed or if necessary.
Monitor project schedules, detect field constructability issues early, escalate to the relevant authority and support - as required - corrective actions to prevent rework and, schedule slippage and additional costs.
Collaborate with municipal partners (Toronto, York Region, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill) and Metrolinx project teams as required.
Coordinate field efforts to minimize community disruptions regarding noise, vibration, and dust.
Coordinate site access points, construction laydown areas, and equipment staging in dense urban corridors.
Manage temporary road closures, traffic management plans, and lane staging in coordination with municipal transportation departments as required.
Facilitate adherence to municipal property by-laws, building permits, and environmental protection rules.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of on-site supervisory experience in heavy civil infrastructure, rapid transit, underground utilities, or tunneling projects.
- Education: Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related technical discipline is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Gold Seal Certification (GSC) is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of the OHSA and local construction regulations.
- Familiarity with alternative project delivery models is a strong asset.
- Strong blueprint and schematic reading proficiency (structural, civil, and utilities plans).
- Clear, universal communication skills to manage diverse field crews and interface with municipal agency representatives.
- Strong analytical skills to handle complex utility conflicts or structural variables safely on-site.
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel frequently across multiple active station sites along the Yonge Street corridor.

The salary range for this position is $89,000 - $120,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
