What will you be doing!
Being assigned as a design job leader, including job management and execution oversight. Assisting in resolving technical issues to prevent or mitigate schedule and budget impacts. Providing job updates and status reports to management. Guiding the work of technologists, coordinating schedules, and assigning tasks to meet cost, quality, and time expectations. Providing mentorship and technical oversight to junior technologists. Preparing engineering drawings and related electrical design documents. Making revisions to existing CADD and hand drawings. Updating Master Equipment Lists (MELs) to reflect equipment removed from service. Providing engineering support during decommissioning activities. Checking the work of junior staff and offering guidance. Conducting walk‑downs to support, troubleshoot, and revise electrical systems as needed. Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What We Are Looking For
Education: Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology with more than eight (8) years of relevant technological experience. Experience: Secondary School graduation diploma (or equivalent) with more than twelve (12) years of relevant experience, or equivalent through additional education and/or training. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must possess a strong knowledge of design drafting technique and practice. Possess knowledge and skills in drafting electrical drawings using CADD. Must be capable of producing neat, legible, and accurate drawings in a reasonable time. Proficiency in both written and oral communication is required. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. The successful candidate must be fluent in English and able to follow and implement complex practices. Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and interact with staff at various levels of the organization. Working with minimal supervision. Solving and or providing recommendations for techniques. Interpreting marked-up drawings. Security Clearance Eligibility Required Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.” Working Conditions
We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This position is part of the WTEG Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in their Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment. Extensive desk and computer work. Occasional visits to any facility on the WL site, including radiological zones. Potential entry into hazardous environments requiring personal protective equipment. Project deadlines or emergent work may require extended hours when approved by management.
