Telecom Field Technician (Rigger) Company: Geocell Canada Inc. Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Location: Multiple Locations Across Canada (Travel Required) About Geocell Canada Inc. As we continue to grow nationwide, we are looking for motivated Telecom Field Technicians (Riggers) who are passionate about working in the field and contributing to the future of Canada's telecommunications infrastructure. Position Summary The Telecom Field Technician (Rigger) is responsible for installing, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting telecommunications equipment on towers, rooftops, monopoles, and other wireless structures. This role requires working safely at heights, travelling to project sites across Canada, and collaborating with team members to deliver projects on time while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities Install, replace, and commission antennas, Remote Radio Units (RRUs), TMAs, feeders, RF jumpers, hybrid cables, and associated wireless equipment. Perform tower climbing, rigging, lifting, and installation work on telecommunications towers, rooftops, monopoles, and other structures. Install equipment racks, cabinets, cable trays, grounding systems, cable support systems, and mounting hardware. Route, secure, weatherproof, and label coaxial, fiber optic, power, and grounding cables. Install, terminate, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cabling. Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, equipment replacements, and emergency restoration work. Conduct site surveys and identify installation or safety deficiencies. Read and interpret engineering drawings, construction packages, network diagrams, and technical specifications. Complete commissioning, testing, acceptance, and quality assurance procedures. Operate hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment, and telecom testing equipment safely. Complete daily reports, site documentation, test results, deficiency reports, and as-built documentation. Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition. Follow all company policies, customer requirements, and industry safety standards. Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Field Supervisors, and other technicians. Travel throughout Canada and work overtime, weekends, nights, and emergency call-outs when required. Perform other related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Telecommunications, electrical, or technical education is considered an asset. Previous experience in telecommunications, wireless construction, tower climbing, or rigging is preferred. Experience with LTE, 5G, microwave, or fiber optic networks is an asset. Knowledge of wireless telecommunications equipment and installation practices. Basic understanding of DC power systems and electrical safety. Ability to read engineering drawings and installation documentation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn. Requirements Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record. Ability to travel extensively across Canada. Comfortable working at heights on towers and rooftops. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg). Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and emergency call-outs. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Preferred Certifications Tower Climbing & Rescue Working at Heights Fall Protection First Aid & CPR WHMIS RF Awareness Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) Confined Space Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Don't have these certifications?
