WONDERING WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

Your role will require you to bring a high standard of scientific excellence to your daily work. The following responsibilities will be in your domain: Leading and supporting the planning and implementation of fisheries and aquatic assessment projects and field programs across Canada. Conducting assessments focused on fish habitat, fish communities and health, integrating elements in areas such as geomorphology, limnology, hydrology, water/sediment quality, and benthic invertebrate communities. Contributing aquatics expertise to large multi-disciplinary projects in collaboration with senior staff, clients, government agencies, First Nations, regulators, and other project partners. Mentoring junior team members and supporting knowledge sharing within the aquatic sciences team. Representing Trinity Consultants Canada - Water & Ecology in the scientific community through high-quality deliverables, industry engagement, and participation in technical conferences.

THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Advanced degree in a relevant field. P.Bio. (or equivalent professional designation), or eligibility for registration Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including fish collection using various methods, fish community characterization, and assessment of fish population and health data. Strong knowledge of statistical analysis Experience in the mining sector is an asset. Experience in habitat characterization for Fisheries Act Authorizations and specialist-level knowledge of habitat requirements for Canadian freshwater fish species. Experience designing and implementing baseline assessment programs, including the selection, establishment, and monitoring of water, sediment, fish, fish habitat, and benthic invertebrate community sampling stations. Effective analytical and technical editing and review skills, and ability to ensure the delivery of high-quality reports and proposals. Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences including team members, clients, regulators, and stakeholders. Excellent time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics. Hands-on expertise in planning and conducting aquatic field programs using a variety of sampling techniques for water, sediment, benthic invertebrates, fish, and fish habitat, including the design, establishment, and sampling of benthic invertebrate community monitoring stations; familiarity with QA/QC protocols and data integrity standards. Experience operating boats and outboard motors in support of aquatic field programs is an asset. Ability and willingness to travel to remote or northern project sites and conduct fieldwork in variable weather, terrain, and seasonal conditions.
