With opportunities for employee training, wellness programs, and professional development, the City of Prince George offers a safe and supportive workplace in which to serve our community.About the opportunity:As the Primary Operator (Chief Engineer) for the District Energy Peaking Plant, this position plays a key role in maintaining safe, compliant, and efficient operations in accordance with Technical Safety BC requirements. Responsibilities include power engineering duties, system monitoring, preventive and corrective maintenance, operational oversight, and regulatory reporting. The role progresses with increased operating experience and responsibility, and also supports wastewater lift station, lagoon, and treatment operations under the direction of the Wastewater Chief Operator.About your background:You have completed Grade 12 and hold a valid 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate or higher in Boiler and Pressure Vessel Operations. Valid EOCP Wastewater Collections and/or Treatment certifications are considered an asset. You bring a minimum of three (3) years of related power engineering experience, with district energy experience preferred. Experience in wastewater collections and treatment is also considered an asset, along with knowledge of HVAC systems, SCADA, and HMI operations. As a condition of employment, the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a clear Police Information Check for offenses related to the position, plus additional security to permit access to sensitive buildings with various security requirements.
