By harnessing the power of data, advancing our AI capabilities, and deeply investing in our people, we are preparing for a future that will redefine what's possible in journey advertising.
Our work is guided by two beliefs: that the ability to execute is paramount to success and that we are only as good as our people. As we grow and transform, we are looking for team members (illumineers) who share our bias for speed, delivery over perfection, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Joining us now is a chance to be part of our transformation.
Who We Need
Reporting to the Manager, DevOps, we are looking for a Junior Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure and Operations team. As the new Junior Systems Engineer, you will support and maintain Linux-based infrastructure environments while gaining hands-on exposure to Kubernetes, automation, networking, virtualization, and production operations. Working closely with senior engineers, you will contribute to the reliability, performance, and scalability of systems that support our global platform while continuing to develop your technical capabilities in a high-scale, fast-moving environment.
This is a full-time permanent remote role supporting our Toronto-based Infrastructure & Operations team and collaborating closely with colleagues across North America. You will work Eastern Standard Time business hours (9:00am–5:00pm EST / 9:00pm–5:00am PHT) and play an active role in supporting production environments and global infrastructure operations.
What’s in it for you?
Growth and mentorship. You will work closely with experienced infrastructure and DevOps engineers who will support your development across Linux systems, Kubernetes, automation, networking, and production operations. This is an opportunity to accelerate your technical growth in a high-scale environment while building toward greater ownership and future progression into a mid-level Systems Engineer role.
Exposure to modern infrastructure. You will gain hands-on experience supporting production systems, containerized environments, automation initiatives, and hybrid infrastructure operations. You will be exposed to technologies and operational complexities that many engineers do not encounter early in their careers, helping you build highly transferable technical skills.
Impact and ownership. You will contribute to the reliability, scalability, and performance of infrastructure environments that support real-time operations. As your knowledge grows, you will take on increasing responsibility, contribute process improvements and automation ideas, and play an active role in strengthening operational excellence across the team.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Systems Administration and Infrastructure Support. You will support Linux and Windows Server environments, helping to maintain the performance, availability, and security of critical infrastructure systems. You will assist with virtualization platforms, server maintenance, patching activities, monitoring, and hybrid infrastructure operations across on-premise, co-located, and cloud-connected environments.
- Kubernetes and Containerization. You will gain hands-on exposure to production Kubernetes environments, supporting cluster operations, monitoring, and containerized deployments. Working alongside senior engineers, you will help maintain reliable and scalable container platforms while continuing to build your technical knowledge and operational confidence.
- Automation and Continuous Improvement. You will contribute to automation initiatives by writing and maintaining scripts, improving repeatable operational processes, and supporting CI/CD and infrastructure automation efforts. You will continue developing your programming and DevOps capabilities using tools and languages such as Python.
- Networking and Operational Support. You will assist with troubleshooting networking and infrastructure issues, including DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and production incidents. You will participate in operational support activities, incident response rotations, change management processes, and disaster recovery testing while building experience in production environments.
- Collaboration and Growth. You will work closely with Infrastructure, DevOps, Networking, and Engineering teams to support day-to-day operations and solve technical challenges. You will contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and team initiatives while developing the skills needed to take on increasing ownership and responsibility over time.
What You Bring
- The infrastructure foundation. You have 1–3 years of experience in Systems Administration, Infrastructure Support, Production Operations, or a similar environment. You bring strong Linux fundamentals, exposure to virtualization technologies, and a foundational understanding of networking concepts including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
- The technical curiosity and growth mindset. You are eager to deepen your knowledge of infrastructure engineering, automation, Kubernetes, and DevOps practices. You may not be an expert yet, but you are motivated to learn quickly, solve problems independently, and build new technical capabilities in a fast-moving environment.
- The containerization and automation exposure. You have worked with containers such as Docker and have some exposure to scripting or automation using Python or similar languages. Exposure to Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure automation tools is considered an asset.
- The communication and collaboration skills. You can communicate clearly in English, both written and verbally, and are comfortable working closely with distributed teams across North America. You ask thoughtful questions, collaborate effectively, and contribute positively within a team-oriented environment.
- The operational mindset. You are organized, dependable, and comfortable supporting production environments where responsiveness, attention to detail, and accountability matter. You are willing to participate in incident response activities, operational support processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- The remote work readiness. You are comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment and have a reliable high-speed internet connection, a dedicated home office or workspace, and the ability to work overnight hours aligned to Eastern Standard Time business operations. You are willing and able to work around the Canadian holiday calendar and business schedule.
