Job Description:
The Control Operator acts as the central contact for the snowmaking team. They will be responsible for monitoring the operation of vital machinery needed for snow production such as industrial water pumps and air compressors. They are also responsible for maintaining a log of all activity and information throughout the snowmaking operation at the resort. Successful candidates will be provided with hands-on training and the necessary knowledge to perform tasks safely and successfully.
Note: Snowmaking season operates from October 7th, 2025 to late December, 2025 depending on snow conditions. Limited opportunities may exist beyond contracted end date.
Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee all shift communications, and assist the Foreman and Supervisors with the management of equipment
- Monitor and perform regular inspections on air compressors, water pumps, snowmaking lines, and other infrastructure within the Control building
- Monitor air and water pressures within snowmaking lines
- Monitor and record snowmaking gun locations and hydrants in use
- Relay work orders, messages, and weather, hazard and accident information to or from work crews, Supervisors, and Foreman using telephone/email or radio communication.
- Track/analyze snowmaking data to ensure accurate records for reports
- Maintain an organized, tidy and safe Control building and equipment storage areas
- Perform general maintenance on snowmaking equipment (guns, hoses, etc.)
- Adhere to department procedures and policies
Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Must have at least an ‘Intermediate-level’ or better ski/snowboard ability

Flexible, and able to reason quickly while remaining calm under pressure

Previous machine/sled operation experience is an asset but not required
-
Experience with routine maintenance operations is considered an asset but not required

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail
-
Experience with Microsoft Excel an asset

Computer literate
Work Schedule:
Day and Night Shifts
4 days on / 3 days off
