Position Overview:
Under the Legal Boundary Surveys Supervisor, the successful candidate will provide leadership and advice on all matters pertaining
to land boundaries. Will be responsible for management and development of Survey Fabric digital information products, to support
Manitoba Hydro's asset management initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Operating within Manitoba Hydro's innovative land management system, you will be focused on the following four areas:
Survey Fabric
- Develop and maintain enterprise-wide Survey Fabric digital data to support corporate asset management programs.
- Provide professional support to land rights mapping program (Complete Property Picture (CPP)), including accuracy and
completeness of mapping deliverables in GIS system.
Property Boundaries SME
- Provide professional and technical oversight (Subject Matter Expert (SME)) within department, as well as for other
departments within the corporation, as it relates to legal boundaries and anything related to them.
- Maintain and communicate knowledge on current industry and corporate best practices in field of land surveying.
Initiate, develop and maintain and/or support programs related to property boundaries.
Field/Legal Surveys
- Partner with Procurement Advisors to administer Geomatics Tender to meet departmental and corporate goals in relation to
geomatics services.
- Act as Geomatics Contract Manager to meet project goals for safety, quality, budget and schedule.
- Lead the coordination, review and acceptance of contractors', consultants and corporate staff land survey deliverables.
- Coordinate field surveys and act as a liaison with other geomatics groups within the corporation.
Subdivisions
- Supervise and direct the gathering and layout of design requirements and communications with developers' land surveying
representatives.
- Guide staff in geo-referencing of proposed land parcels and determining relationships to Hydro facilities.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal engineering and design groups as well as key industry stakeholders
in order to secure Manitoba Hydro's land interest requirements.

Qualifications:
- Valid license to practice from the Association of Manitoba Land Surveyors;
OR
- A license to practice land surveying from another professional land surveying regulatory body in Canada; and successful
completion of Manitoba's jurisdictional examination within one year.
- Four-year degree in Geomatics Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in land survey
theory and practice; applied within a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) context plus five years related experience.
- Experience in project management, with preference in Land Surveying and Geomatics projects.
- Asset qualifications include specializations in cadastral mapping, geodetic sciences and remote sensing.
- Experience in the application of geospatial information practices as it relates to Real Property.
- May be required to hold a valid license to practice as a Canada Lands Surveyor.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Driver's Licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $44.75-$61.75 Hourly,
$85,745.40-$118,316.64 Annually.
