About the role

Are you ready to grow your career in Residential Construction?

We are seeking a motivated & proactive individual for the position of Labourer, in our Installation Department, responsible for supporting both our Framing and Installation Crews in the structural framing of residential homes.

Duties include material handling, housekeeping, and simple installations, while developing foundational safety, quality, and construction skills.

You Will Bring

  • No formal education is required but must be able to demonstrate safe and efficient use of power and hand tools (Paslode, Saws, Impact Drills, etc.)
  • 0 - 1 year experience as a Labourer in residential construction environment
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • Ability to read and interpret tape measurements, levels, and 3D plans with precision

  • Strong attention to detail & communication skills

  • Understands standardized work for the role of Labourer, and can complete all tasks proficiently
  • Follows company safety standards and identifies/reports hazards

Framing Fundamentals

  • Ability to complete minor repairs, as needed
  • Able to complete larger repairs with clear direction

Initiative

  • Takes ownership of tasks, asks for/ can spot additional work for idle time
  • Actively seeks to understand framing concepts (deeper understanding/ new)
  • Open for feedback and willingness to learn from fellow team members

Team Collaboration

  • Supports Team Members
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully
  • Consistently shows up on time, prepared, and ready to work
  • Participates actively in PDCAs. Suggests better ways to perform tasks/ make improvements to department processes

Working Conditions

  • The job description implies the performance of repetitive tasks
  • Majority of time is spent on construction sites
  • Work may involve exposure to weather, noise, dust, and high-risk activities
  • Ability to adapt to changing site conditions and priorities
  • PPE (hard hat, steel toed boots and Hi-Vis) is required at all times in field settings
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods and perform strenuous physical labour in all weather conditions
  • Ability to travel to different projects throughout the City of Ottawa, if required
  • May involve visits to an industrial warehouse environment
