About the role

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for managing the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work. This includes developing, scheduling, optimizing, analyzing, and closing work orders of all types.

This position is responsible for generating reports relating to maintenance activities such as but not limited to labor, material parts cost, total equipment costs, schedule compliance, proactive work etc.

This position is located at our Lunenburg, NS production facility. This position is required to be on site, 5 days per week.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Manage the work flow process to ensure all requested work is inputted correctly into the CMMS. Ensure all information needed for the work to be planned effectively is correct. Input the work order to the current CMMS with the appropriate skill assignment, cost center and clear instructions or intent of work order.
  • Track maintenance activities and communicate effectively to all stakeholders on the status of the requested work.
  • Work closely with maintenance technicians to ensure work is completed on time and in full.
  • Collaborate with Spare Parts Coordinator (s) to develop, implement and optimize kitting process.
  • Optimize maintenance plans and schedules for predictive, preventive, routine, scheduled and emergency maintenance work.
  • Be a key player in the team to develop meaningful detailed PM's.
  • Ensure all plant assets are in the CMMS with all necessary PMs in place. Set up any new equipment PMs into the CMMS
  • Train maintenance staff to effectively utilize the CMMS. Track Maintenance KPIs
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, GMPs, SOPs, company safety policies.
  • Actively encourages coworkers to work safely.
  • Assist in the development of equipment BOM’s.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Secondary School diploma

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial maintenance field.

  • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes.

  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices.

  • Strong communication skills, specifically reading, writing and speaking English.

  • Demonstrated ability to lift 20 Lbs on a regular basis.

  • Experience with technology, specifically CMMS systems and MS Office are required.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented coupled with the ability to successfully multi-task.

  • Previous experience in maintenance planning and/or maintenance scheduling

  • Understands schedule compliance, the necessity of work order completion and cost impacts

  • Highly adaptable, can professionally navigate changing priorities and requirements.

  • Objective judgment and fact-based decision making approach.

  • Flexibility to work all shifts, weekends and holidays is required.

  • Team oriented, collaborates closely with the Maintenance and production teams, communicates promptly to ensure a positive team result

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, listen, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to use hands to handle, operate, and feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to off-site meetings. The employee must have sufficient visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and digital camera, as well as other office and position equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to hear and speak clearly to communicate with clients, coworkers, employees and vendors.

Plant Environment:

The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil, electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold (-5 degrees F), heat (80 degrees F), rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors.

Allergens found inside the plant include fish, shellfish, nuts, eggs, wheat, soy, milk and coconut.
