About the role
Your Opportunity:
As a member of the Clinical Engineering North Zone team, the Biomedical Equipment Technician II is responsible for the management of technology including technical support, repairs and preventative maintenance for complex medical equipment and systems to ensure patient and staff safety and reliability. Key responsibilities are: Prioritization, scheduling, and management of assigned workload. Ensures clinical and non-clinical equipment meets pertinent safety, performance and technical standards and that is performing to technical and clinical specifications; prepares appropriate documentation. Operation of the Clinical Engineering computerized maintenance management system (CMMS/eFacilities), utilizing computer skills for inputting and retrieval of equipment history, and generation of computerized work orders and reports. Develops and maintains familiarity with the patient care programs of supported areas and professional competence with respect to the equipment in these areas by reading relevant literature and manuals, and by attending meetings and educational/ training sessions. Maintains liaison with medical and clinical staff, manufacturers and suppliers. Reviews hazard reports, recalls notices and medical device alerts; assesses the impact on supported areas and advises Clinical Engineering management on appropriate corrective action. Zone travel and On-Call duties as required. Participates in department safety and Work Health and Safety activities. Other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).
