About the role
Job Description What is the opportunity? The Client Experience and Digital Design (CXDD) team at RBC Insurance is seeking a Manager, UX Research to design and lead user research initiatives aimed at enhancing how clients and advisors interact with RBC Insurance's client-facing digital products, advisor platforms, and sales tools. In this role, you will plan and conduct studies of moderate to high complexity, turning research into insights that shape design and product decisions. Your work will contribute to making servicing easier, reducing friction, and improving clarity for both clients and advisors. As a key collaborator, the manager partners closely with designers, product owners, product managers, and business stakeholders to ensure that evidence, not assumption, drives experience design across RBC Insurance's digital ecosystem. What will you do? Lead and conduct user research initiatives to evaluate early-stage concepts, working prototypes, and deployed digital solutions for client and advisor users across our digital products, platforms, and sales tools, translating findings into actionable recommendations for design and product teams. Design and execute mixed methods research approaches that combine qualitative and quantitative methodologies (usability testing, interviews, surveys, A/B testing, card sorting, tree testing, and more) to answer specific design and product questions. Coordinate research recruitment, identify target participant groups, manage outreach, schedule sessions, and track participation. Synthesize and present research findings through compelling research readouts, strategic narratives, and data-driven presentations (executive summaries, detailed decks, interactive dashboards) that translate complex insights into clear, prioritized recommendations and actionable next steps tailored to stakeholder needs and decision-making contexts. Articulate insights and influence stakeholders by embedding research findings in design decisions, product recommendations, and backlog prioritization. Partner with designers, product owners, and journey teams to ensure stakeholder alignment and research impact. Maintain research artifacts and knowledge management to help build a reusable body of knowledge for the research practice. What will you need to succeed? Must-have Bachelor’s or master’s degree in psychology, Human Computer Interaction, Design, Human Factors, or a related field. 3 to 5 years of experience in UX research or related user experience research roles. Practical experience with a variety of research methodologies—both qualitative (interviews, usability testing, observational research) and evaluative (A/B testing, surveys, card sorting, tree testing)—to uncover user needs, behavioral insights, and validate solutions. Strong analysis skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize raw data, recordings, and notes into clear themes, actionable insights, and strategic recommendations. Exceptional ability to translate research findings into compelling narratives and strategic stories that resonate with cross-functional stakeholders (designers, product owners, product managers, business leaders) and drive decision-making based on research evidence. Demonstrated ability to lead research initiatives by designing appropriate research approaches (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods based on research questions and business context) and influencing cross-functional stakeholders on complex, high-impact projects grounded in evidence Nice-to-have Familiarity with AI-assisted research tools and workflows (e.g., AI-powered data synthesis, automated coding/tagging tools, or AI-enhanced insight generation platforms) to enhance research efficiency and depth. Experience with research repositories or knowledge management systems. Ability to manage several requests and deadlines at once in a fast-paced setting. Experience working in a large matrix organization or corporate environment. Experience working in insurance, financial services, or adjacent industries. Proficiency with standard office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
