Glazing & Cladding Drafter

Position Title: Glazing & Cladding Drafter Department: Engineering / Drafting Reports To: Drafting Manager / Engineering Manager Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Glazing & Cladding Drafter to join our Building Envelope team. The successful candidate will prepare detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, installation drawings, and construction details for a wide range of glazing and exterior cladding systems. This role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineers, estimators, architects, consultants, suppliers, and fabrication teams to ensure projects are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed shop drawings for: Curtain Wall Systems Window Wall Systems Storefront Systems Punched Windows Doors and Entrances Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) Panels Metal Composite Panels (MCM) Metal Siding Fiber Cement Panels Terracotta Cladding Phenolic/HPL Panels Aluminum Plate Panels Architectural Louvers and Screens Soffits and Canopies Custom Architectural Metal Systems Produce fabrication drawings for in-house manufacturing. Prepare installation drawings and sequencing details. Review architectural, structural, and consultant drawings. Perform field measurements when required. Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines. Resolve design conflicts before fabrication. Develop panel layouts, elevations, sections, and detailed connections. Prepare material take-offs and support procurement. Coordinate with suppliers regarding profiles, hardware, glazing systems, and accessories. Revise drawings based on consultant comments and site conditions. Participate in project coordination meetings. Maintain drawing revisions and document control. Assist project managers with Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and technical documentation. Ensure drawings comply with: Ontario Building Code CSA Standards ASTM Standards AAMA Standards Project specifications Manufacturer requirements

Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field. Minimum 3–5 years of drafting experience in glazing, curtain wall, or exterior cladding. Strong understanding of building envelope construction. Experience interpreting architectural and structural drawings. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Technical Skills Proficiency with: AutoCAD (Advanced) Autodesk Inventor (Asset) Revit (Asset) Bluebeam Revu Microsoft Office Suite Adobe Acrobat Knowledge of CNC fabrication drawings is considered an asset.

Preferred Experience Candidates with experience in custom building envelope systems and complex architectural projects—including hospitals, universities, civic buildings, high-rise developments, and institutional facilities—will be given preference. Experience preparing fabrication-ready drawings for in-house manufacturing and coordinating directly with installation teams is highly desirable
