POSITION OVERVIEW: The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining an efficient production schedule that aligns with customer demand, material availability, and manufacturing capacity while also managing key buying responsibilities, including reviewing material requirements, placing purchase orders, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring timely delivery of materials. This role reviews system‑generated MRP recommendations, assigns production to appropriate kettles/work areas, sequences production orders, maintains accurate system records, and partners closely with operations, supply chain, quality, and suppliers to ensure material readiness, smooth schedule execution, and effective prioritization across the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES: Production Scheduling Review and approve MRP-suggested production orders, validating against material availability and production feasibility. Assign batches to appropriate kettles/work areas based on capacity, product requirements, and campaign efficiency. Establish and communicate the order of production to operations and cross-functional teams. Document and maintain the daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules. Update the ERP system with accurate production dates, assignments, and sequencing. Close production batches in the system upon completion, ensuring correctness of data, quantities, and dates. Monitor schedule adherence and adjust system records as necessary to reflect actual production outcomes. Partner with supply chain, operations, and quality to resolve scheduling conflicts and ensure alignment with demand priorities. Assist with schedule prioritization decisions to balance service, efficiency, and capacity constraints. Communicate schedule changes and potential impacts to stakeholders in a timely manner. Purchasing Analyze and act upon MRP signals to issue purchase orders for raw materials, packaging, and resale items in line with production and demand plans. Place and manage purchase orders, confirm delivery dates, track shipment status, and proactively resolve any supply disruptions or delays. Maintain effective communication with suppliers to ensure reliability and responsiveness. Escalate and resolve any issues related to quality, lead time, or service. Collaborate closely with Planning, Scheduling, and Plant Operations teams to ensure materials are available to meet production requirements without overstocking. Ensure purchase order details, item master data, lead times, and pricing are accurate in the ERP system. Quickly address and resolve order discrepancies, delivery issues, or material non-conformances. Monitor and report on supplier performance, material availability, inventory levels, and purchase order status. QUALIFICATIONS: 3–7 years of scheduling or planning experience in a manufacturing environment (chemical manufacturing preferred). Experience in chemical manufacturing, batch processing, or other process industries strongly preferred. Strong ERP/MRP system knowledge (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred). Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple functions. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including Pivot Tables, Lookup functions, filtering, sorting, and data analysis. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
