Job Purpose
The Uniform and Laundry Technician is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service in the distribution, care, washing, pressing, and maintenance of approved MBLL issued uniforms
Job Responsibilities
- Receive laundry from the casino and gaming centre sites. Laundry will include soiled rags from different Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries (MBLL) locations.
- Visually identify and manually sort all garments for laundering.
- Accurately weigh laundry to allotted limit.
- Check all pockets on garments (e.g., pants, aprons, coats) before loading them into the washer.
- Load garments as per procedure.
- Wash garments according to specifications, without exceeding load limit.
- Monitor length of operating cycle for washer and dryer while carrying out other assigned duties.
- Manually unload dryer and divide clothing evenly between pressers.
- Perform pressing of garments with steam presses.
- Balance the counts of recorded garments.
- Sort garments by A/B/C/D before sending them back to the casino sites via conveyor system.
- Attach cleaning docket to clothing batch before sending back to the casino sites.
- Record room temperature every hour in the pressing, staging and front door areas.
- Verify laundry dockets to ensure numbers are recorded in logs.
- Retrieve and distribute uniforms to staff scheduled at Central Services.
- Scan incoming and outgoing uniforms into the inventory system.
- Attach Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags to new garments.
- Clean counters and floors.
- Assign employee lockers in the change room. Assist with Audit locker assignment on an annual basis or as required.
- Start up and shut down equipment.
- Assist Supervisor with clothing and supplies inventory: counting, receiving, and verifying using the current uniforms inventory software system and put aways.
- Press barcodes (generic) on garments.
- Double check inventory for damaged garments.
- Blow out dryers then vacuum.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Primary Qualifications
- Grade 10 or acceptable level of education and experience.
- Ability to learn quickly, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use computers, email and on-line systems for work related tasks.
- Must understand and follow garment care instructions.
- Level I training in sewing and alterations will be acquired on the job.
- Must have WHMIS GHS certification and training on laundry machinery, which will be acquired on the job.

Secondary Qualifications

Previous training in sewing to assist with repairs and alterations of garments is an asset.

Previous experience in customer service and laundry is an asset.

Basic computer experience is an asset.

Bilingual French/English language skills is an asset.

Vacation
