Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Welder Apprentice to join our fabrication shop in Nisku, AB. This position is ideal for an individual looking to build a career in the welding trade while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced industrial environment. The successful candidate will assist experienced welders and fabricators while developing technical skills and learning fabrication processes, safety procedures, and industry best practices.This role offers an opportunity for growth through practical experience and mentorship in a fabrication shop setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Journeyperson Welders and fabrication personnel with daily shop activities.
• Prepare materials for welding, including measuring, cutting, grinding, cleaning, and fitting components.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Assist with material handling, loading, and unloading of steel and fabrication components.
• Learn and perform basic welding and fabrication tasks under supervision.
• Read and interpret basic shop drawings and welding symbols as skills develop.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
• Support production goals and assist with general shop duties as required.

Qualifications

• Registered Welder Apprentice or willingness to register in an apprenticeship program.
• Previous shop, construction, or industrial experience considered an asset.
• Basic understanding of welding and fabrication processes is preferred.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools.
• Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
• Reliable transportation to Nisku.
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in fabrication, construction, or industrial environments.
• Exposure to MIG, FCAW, or SMAW welding processes.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements accurately.
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in skilled trades.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Comfortable working in a fabrication environment with noise, dust, heat, and welding activities.

Compensation & Benefits

• $35/hr - $50/hr.
