Overview of the role:
Reporting to the Production Manager, this role forms a key part of our leadership team. The Temporary Production Supervisor is responsible for in addition to leading our production employees and overseeing the day-to-day operations to ensure objectives are met for quality, safety, efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the processing and packaging of our products. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of initiative, is self-motivated and works well under pressure.
Schedule: Rotating shift, 4day work week.
Contract : 1 year term
Salary: $80,130-$105,170

How you will make contributions that matter:
- Ensure the safe, efficient and effective use of manpower, equipment and material resources
- Provide leadership, direction, guidance, supervision, evaluation, motivation and training of production employees
- Schedule equipment and employees to meet production requirements and deadlines
- Maximize product quality and yields
- Take appropriate actions to ensure the health and safety of all workers under direct supervision, inform employees of safety hazards, consult with the joint committee and safety representative;
- Review and maintain the appropriate inventory and stock levels
- Effectively use data on a daily basis to measure and communicate trends; reinforce positive results and initiate corrective actions as appropriate
- Prepare written communication including work procedures, notices, progress reports
- Ensures that both Company and Governmental quality, sanitation and environmental standards are met working closely with Quality Assurance and Technical Services, ensure frequent review and successful implementation of Company and Governmental Policies
- Work closely with Maintenance to minimize downtime, ensure product safety and quality
- Administer the collective agreement, Company policies and standards
- Maintain effective internal and external business relationships and other duties as required
You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership skills, preferably in a unionized environment
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills
- 3 years’ progressive experience in a dairy or food manufacturing environment
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office), analytical and organization skills
- Knowledge of Dairy operations with particular emphasis on processing, cheese making, sanitation, CIP, preferred
- Post-secondary education in Food Sciences, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, Operations, Engineering, Management or related field would be an asset
